Job Description: Dentist

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Dentist will perform routine and complex dental procedures on patients according to their oral health needs and cosmetic concerns. The Associate Dentist’s responsibilities include developing suitable treatment plans for patients, keeping an accurate record of all appointments, diagnoses, and treatments, and answering patients’ questions. The Associate Dentist will also oversee the work of the technical staff.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

Basic Duties:

  • Examine patients’ teeth and gums to diagnose and treat various oral health issues.
  • Utilize x-rays and computer-generated imaging to assist with examinations.
  • Provide dental treatments to patients, including extractions, dental fillings, cavity and tooth decay treatments, bonding, and applications of dental crowns, caps and veneers.
  • Administer local anesthesia to patients as needed.
  • Educate patients on good oral hygiene practices and advise them on proper aftercare following certain dental procedures.
  • Perform oral cancer screenings.
  • Prescribe antibiotics and pain medications to patients as required.
  • Ensure that all dental instruments and equipment are sterilized before each use.

 

Contribution to Team Activities:

  • Participates actively in staff meetings 
  • Participates in the overall activities of the practice, e.g., in-service training, special events and shared staff responsibilities.

  • Maintains the reputation and confidentiality of Dickinson & Branon, its staff and its patients at all times
  • Able to adapt to office policy improvements (office is constantly striving for improved customer care/service)

PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience

  • Doctor of dental surgery (DDS) or doctor of medicine in dentistry (DMD).
  • Current Vermont State Licensure as a Dental Provider.
  • CPR certification
  • Proven experience working in a dental practice.
  • The ability to use various dental instruments and equipment.
  • The ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Helpful and polite.
  • Knowledge of Dentrix CRM software a plus.

  • To do detailed work using arms, hands, and fingers to handle and feel objects worked with
  • Intermittently is required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, bend and reach throughout the day
  • Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity is needed
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, department perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be physically able to administer CPR
  • May have to lift up to 25 pounds
