Richard Dickinson, Jr., DMD, FAGD (“Dr. DJ”) was born and raised in St. Albans, Vermont, and is proud to deliver world-class dental care to the small-town community that shaped him. Dr. Dickinson graduated from Dartmouth College with dual engineering degrees and began his career as a product development engineer at Allegro Microsystems, where he co-invented eight patents for the design of integrated electrical current sensors.
While he valued the rigor and innovation of the technology sector, dentistry offered a different path that combined science, precision, and the ability to more positively impact people’s health.
After earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Dickinson returned to Vermont to complete a General Dental Residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center. Following his residency, he joined Dickinson Branon Dental, where he works alongside his father and sister, trusted mentors and partners with a shared commitment to long-term community health. A firm believer that patients deserve the exceptional care that requires constant learning, Dr. Dickinson has pursued advanced education in occlusion, clear aligner therapy, and implant dentistry, including fellowship training with the California Implant Institute and advanced surgical education through dental XP.
As a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) and President of the Vermont AGD chapter, Dr. Dickinson is a leader in advancing education for dentists across the region. He also mentors future clinicians through Tufts University’s Northern New England Dental Student Mentorship Program.
Outside the practice, Dr. Dickinson’s greatest priority is family. He lives in Georgia, Vermont, with his wife, Tasha, and their three children; he also coaches youth sports and embraces Vermont’s outdoor scene as an avid cross-country and downhill skier, including duty on Jay Peak’s Ski Patrol.
